Re: rodd1s' ex-turbo Lanos [1349 sleeper in the making]

Update, kind of... I was hoping to have another Lanos by now, but the one I was set to buy sold the day before I planned on picking it up and couldn't find anything similar at the time. After the Astra coupe, we had a little Corsa 1.2 for a while to help with cutting monthly outgoings - but that thi...

Re: Lowering Suggestions for Daewoo Lanos?

+1 on gse_turbo's answer. I had the same problems trying to fit Astra E Eibach springs to my Lanos and the front ones were too much of a pain to fit, so I opted for a set of Spax SSX 40mm springs. Did the job nicely.

Re: Injectors shut off during deceleration

I doubt mine did it, mainly judged by the 'over run' made audible by the exhaust when the centre silencer was removed... still popping and banging for several seconds after coming off the throttle as unburnt fuel gets chucked down the exhaust. Search youtube for "rev 'n rumble", watch the first resu...

Re: Injectors shut off during deceleration

Doubtful. They are based on rather old EFI technology before such ideas were put into effect (around 2005-ish I think), plus they'd be a lot more economical if that was the case. I'm sure such circuitry could be implemented to adapt an engine to perform in such a manner with some basic logic, i.e.: ...

Re: I fear for my sanity HELP

Benzino, That answer is not a lot of help.Seatbelt or no seatbelt it bongs when the key is put into the ignition and I want to disable it.If you dont know the answer, dont answer the question, Benzino's answer is perfectly valid in relation to the Lanos (a car he owns), where if you don't have a se...

Re: The longest Thread ever!!!

Ordered some parts for a new gaming PC last night, and it's going to be a beast! Should in theory have three times the processing power of the new Xbox at only two-thirds the cost.

If only it was that easy to spec-up a car, plug it all together and go wild! lol

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car

I believe all 3 Lanos engine variants share the same air box - using the exact same locating/mounting points and same angle and diameter on pipe connectors.

I used one that came from a 1.6 16v as a replacement on my old 1.3 8v

Re: The longest Thread ever!!!

For when I buy another Lanos (note, not 'if', but definitely 'when') I am probably going to turbocharge it, again. This time I'm going to do it properly, however - no blown clutches, a lesson learned. Will most likely do it on another 1349cc 8v Lanos, as they are easy to find and can be found for ar...

Re: rodd1s' ex-turbo Lanos [1349 sleeper in the making]

9bhp less is negligible really, and can easily be made up again with some minor changes. The recaro interior over here go for £500 second hand if you can find a set, and that usually only consists of front seats. I'd happily do what I did before and opt for some Subaru buckets as they are found ever...

Re: rodd1s' ex-turbo Lanos [1349 sleeper in the making]

We've got the SRI Turbo here as well, which doesn't make any sense whatsoever, because it's just a GSI with more stock looking bumpers. Recently I've been keepin my eyes on the auto trader and quite a few 1.6 3dr manuals have popped up for under £500... if I had somewhere to keep it locked up (as I ...

Re: rodd1s' ex-turbo Lanos [1349 sleeper in the making]

I'd quite like an Astra GSI, but they are becoming hard to find, and the turbo coupe is popular alternative as it has the same engine.

Ultimately, I want a 888 coupe! But there aren't many left on the roads and I fear they are getting more expensive as time goes on.

Re: rodd1s' ex-turbo Lanos [1349 sleeper in the making]

I know, it really is just a modern day Calibra, but it's based on the Astra G, where as the Calibra was quite different from the likes of the Astra F. Over here it is cheaper to buy an Astra coupe 2.0 turbo than it is to do a conversion, I paid £1600 for this one, but a similar age turbo can be had ...
