Not sure about Ireland but in mainland uk you can get a good Nexia for very little money now. I gave mine away 3 years ago. Mechanically sound but the sills & rear wheel arches were rotten. They are a great cheap car and the dohc is surprisingly very nippy with good acceleration - and with no street...

I wouldn't beat yourself up about it mate. Shit happens. Just think of it as one silly prick less for some other unfortunate motorist to go through the same ordeal! I've just spent 5 weeks in Australia and over there its law for pedestrians to cross only when the green man flashes, even when there's...

Sounds like a EGR and Inlet manifold leak. Another way to make sure is spray Inlet/carb cleaner around the leaky areas and the engine revs will rise. While you have the egr off to replace that gasket check that the egr valve itself isn't sticking open, that too will cause symptoms of a vacuum leak a...

If all connections and vacuum pipes are ok try this. It works for the Lanos. Turn on ignition and disconnect the Idle speed control valve plug Ignition off, re-connect the ISCV Repeat the above 4 or 5 times Start engine. It may not idle unassisted so use the throttle for a few minutes until the ecu ...

I agree. Here in UK the 1.4 sohc & 1.6 dohc Lanos are both interference engines. It's the biggest killer of the Lanos engine when people don't replace the cambelt at the correct service interval. I see plenty sold on ebay for next to nothing with engine damage because the timing belt has snapped. Ev...

Nice pics m8. My 1998 1.4 Lanos is UK spec and doesn't have the cam sensor and only 1 O2. It uses the older 12 pin ADSL. I think Kopisti must have the newer model made around 2002 (the one with the redesigned rear lights which only have one reverse and one fog). They discontinued the Lanos soon afte...

The ecu controls the idle speed via the ISCV. Sometimes the iscv goes a bit wonky and causes the idle to rev too high. If you turn the adjuster screw while the engine is running it will increase the revs but when you restart the engine the ecu will automatically adjust the idle to what it should be....

Before going to the trouble and expense of changing hubs / sensors would it not be best to check that the sensors are actually faulty? Especially as you say in your earlier post you believe the abs fault occurred since you had the ecu wiring problems. Ideally an oscilloscope is needed to check the w...

On my uk spec lanos the abs control unit is located close to the ECU behind the drivers side kick panel trim. Regarding the airbag light I've got a feeling that you've gone and blown the airbag module by unplugging the connector without first disconnecting the battery. I did a similar thing when rem...

In the UK the biggest problem of abs faults on the Daewoo is corrosion at the bracket that holds the front abs wheel sensors. (probably to do with the salt used on our roads during winter). The metal bracket holding the sensor starts to move forward and eventually the air gap between the sensor and ...
