Lanos - clunking and vibrating - solved

Thought I'd share my recent problem and solution. My 2000 3 Door Lanos was clunking during low speed turns, sometimes when going over speed bumps at slow speed. There was also a LOT of vibration when starting from a dead stop, also when traveling over broken pavement - very rough. I checked the susp...

2001 Lanos Hatchback 1.5l

Hi All, The time has come to part with the woo, its running perfectly, I drive it daily, but want a jeep. It is a 2001 1.5l Canadian Hatchback Lanos 255k, with oil changes every 5000 km. It has upgraded brakes with slotted rotors (same size as the lemans 2.0) and the matching calipers of course, als...

Check the ball joints - mine was doing something similar - i replaced both left and right tie rod ends and the ball joints on the bottom of the spindle - remarkable difference You can order the same tie rod ends as the 1989 pontiac lemas 2.0, and for some reason, even thought they are the same part ...

hatch lifts

Hi, I had the same problem and spent a few hours with an old lift support from my Lanos a local auto wreckers and found that the 1992 - 1995 Honda Civic uses exactly the same one - same length, same bolts everything. I don't know if it is exactly the same pressure - but it lifts the door and holds i...

AHA!!!

Ok - I spent almost 3 hours wandering around a local wrecking yard here in Toronto (Standard Auto on Sewels Road) with my old gas lift spring for the rear hatch door. THe one from a 1992 Honda Civic hatchback fits perfectly, same length open and closed, exact same bolts, everything. I bolted mine in...

success

ok - not sure what the first garage did wrong, but i found a local mechanic who didn't mind me being in the shop with him while we worked on the car together, in fact he encouraged it. I brought along a print out of the front end assembly from my Lanos service manual too. We tore the spindle and str...

the saga of the bearing continues

so we looked at the old bearing before pressing it out and it seemed ok, so we put the hub back into it and mounted it on the car, NOW the wheel feels too tight - will turn by hand, but not easily

this is getting frustrating!!!!

any thoughts?

Lanos 1.5 Front wheel bearing

Hi, Having some difficulties with the front wheel bearing on my 2001 1.5l Lanos hatchback I cannot find the correct wheel bearing for the front end. I have tried the one listed though partssource - the outer diameter was too big to fit into the spindle. Same thing for the bearing from Solvit (autori...

hatch gas shock (aka trunk lid spring)

Hi, My lanos 1.5 hatchback needs a replacement gas shock for the rear hatch, I want to grab one from the local U-pick salvage yard - anyone know if this shock is the same as one on some other vehicle make and model? being able to narrow it down a bit would save me muchos time wandering around the ya...
