Also, I thought the sending unit went straight to the heating coil behind the dash gauge. But, Mohammad, you are saying that there are wires between the sending unit and dash gauge?

Fuel pump module has been replaced as well as the sending unit. The float is not getting caught on anything inside the tank, so what else could cause this?
