bah my record for now was only 100 mph it was too slippery to drive on a high way

UMMM... a 1.5 SOHC goes up to 172km/h as per the user manual... how can yours go up to 180?

this is another old topic that was never finished, off-topic from the thread, but hey!

anyways, my little 1349cc 8v lanos has hit 112mph according to gps (a tick over 115mph on the speedo) - and yeah... i can hit that in 4th gear!

edit: btw, 112mph is almost exactly 180km/h. i reckon it could do more, that top speed was done months before upgrading the spark plugs, ht leads and removing the exhaust silencer.

the values on the manual is under rated for sure

i was doing 160@5500RPMs in 4th gear only and i have managed to go up to 170 twice at about 4500 or 5000 in fifth... friends say they got up to 180 and 185 with their 1.5 SOHC... the manual is wrong

My Lanos ST has reached 252km/h in 6th gear on 6100rpm and it was still accelerating...

my lanos did about 112mph in forth going into fifth hitting 120mph with me and 4 friend in the car and inhad a full tank, on a 1 and half mile road going sightly up hill and that before i start to upgrade things eg air intake, exhuast,
