Going to import a Calibra AWD 2.0L Turbo

Post by PrecisionBoost »

Yes, I need another car like I need a hole in the head but I'm going to sell my Mazdaspeed 3 and import a LHD 94 Opel Calibra from Japan

They are finally 15 years old and can be brought into Canada. ( it pays to live in Canada.... Opel was bought by Canadian company Magna and we will get Opels by the end of this year if all goes well )

It will be my daily driver as the AWD will come in handy for our winter months.

Here is a picture of a Calibra in case some of you don't know what they look like with a decent body kit.....

Hey man...... didn't know you still come on the forum.... I don't know how much yet.... probably mid to high 20's.... I've only put on about 19,000km.

It was one of the last 2007"s coming to Canada when I bought it..... at that time they were saying that there may not be a 2008 MS3.... so it's newer than most 2007.

The first one they showed me was a 94 C20LET/F28 with 110,000 km landed in Canada for $5200...... that includes the importers $1200 fee and shipping from Japan.

So it's a pretty good deal.............. and yes.......I must have another Opel :D

That is an awesome idea Chris and at that price you would be silly not to do it. :D We have the AWD Calibra here in Australia under the Holden badge but they are as rare as a goose that lays golden eggs (and are worth about the same). The MS3 is a pretty good car, but I would still prefer a Turbo AWD sports car like the Calibra, even if it is 15yo.

Well the first one I've picked out is going to auction tonight so I will see if we get it.

It has a few modifications... such as body kit and matched trim... but really low kilometers ( I can't remember if it's 68K or 86K )

Here is a picture.....I've put a maximum landed bid of $7000...... which means $7K including shipping and fees.

I like the MS3... it's a great car.... but.....

1) It's a real OPEL
2) It's AWD and turbo
3) It's a real OPEL
4) I allready have parts for it
5) It's a real OPEL
6) It will let me figure out what parts to get for my Kadette E ( GSi )
7) It's a real OPEL
8) It is a larger more stable platform with very good aftermarket support for things like coilovers

Did I mention it's a real OPEL ?

This first one will probably be my daily driver..... after that... who knows I might get another one for racing.

Ya sorry. I threw that downpipe away and did a full 3" downpipe and exhaust. I saw your GSI about a week or 2 weeks ago in Sherwood Park but I couldn't catch ya lol. Well I was like 10 cars behind you. Anyway I want to see this OPEL when you get it landed. Oh and I still check the site from time to timw
