Creaking on bumps

Post by Daniel »

Hi,

Very happy to find the forum ON again :D

Here a question.
My front bushes were bad and I got a creaking noise too. So I changed lately the control arms for new ones and even if handling and steering are better I still hear a creaking noise only when I pass over bumps with both wheels when car is cold. Passing with one wheel only or after several miles isn't more noisy.
Could it be anti-roll bar bushings or engine mounts?
How to determine what is wrong?

Thanks,

I'd say roll bar bushes or strut tops

If that doesn't work, 1 more possibility would be steering rack bushes

Well, it's harder than I thought to remove the collars holding silent block of the stabilizer bar to lubricate them. At least from underneath the car with the tools I have. No pit no elevator :(
The front screw can be removed but rear not yet. Too tiny space. I will try soon with other tools or method.

What do you mean by steering rack bushes? Those in which the piston slides in rack? I do not turn the steering wheel when squeaking appears in cold.

Thanks for help. Much appreciated.

News.

By lack of motivation (and back pain due to wearing :( ) I've only put some silicone grease into the left engine mount and the noise is greatly reduced. Will wait a tad hoping it's not placebo.

Cheers
