cv boot outer

Post by broken »

No matter how many times I read the manual I just cant make sence of it. I need to replace the rubber boot thats closest to the wheel (passenger front). Do I have to take the axle out to change the outer boot or can I do it in place. 1999 Daewoo Lanos 1.5 Litre Manual Hatch..thanks heaps :)

To be honest I don't think replacing boots only is ever worth the time or effort. The complete axle assembly can be bought for about $55 and it takes about an hour to do.

To do the boot correctly means the cv join is removed from the splined axel shaft, the joint is completely washed clean of axle grease and reassembled with all new grease. It takes time and irritation.
