Stock door speakers are 4 inch and you have to make an adapter ring to fit the 5 1/4 inch.
It is MUCH easier to fit 5 1/4 inch than it is to fit 6 inch.

I used the factory plastic speaker holder and traced around it on 3/4inch thick MDF then drew in the circle of the size the 5 1/4 inch speakers needed and then cut it all out.

I have pics somewhere. Finding them is the difficult part.

I have in my car 6.5 speaker I use Pioneer speakers because the deep of this speaker is 1 3/4. I use a .5 spacer. I buy it in a sound center. Is plastic. Image

Yes depth is the problem...

I have had some 6inch Kenwood Component Speakers for a while now but they are thin speakers... (i think something like 57mm from a bad memory )

3/4 or 1inch thick MDF spacer ring is your friend! Mine were still able to fit under the normal door trim!

it seems like speakers are such a hassle in lanos's. I somewhat think i was lucky inheriting a leganza because it had 6.5' splits stock, so there were no dramas fitting my clarion splits

I fit 6 1/2 inch CDT component (split) speakers in my Lanos in the stock locations under the door panels. All I needed were MDF spacer rings.
The bottom of the door panel does not fit against the door any more; there is a 1/2 inch gap, but no one can see unless you look up from under the door.

or you could mount the speakers through the door pannel, like i did, you cut the stoick meshing out and screw the speaker with its speaker cover that it came with right to the out side of the door pannel. really easy and no need to make mdf rings, it looks good too!

i imagine that also buys you an extra 1/2 of mounting depth too.

How Do you take the Plastic Panel Off, There is no screw for the Door handle. Do you just pop it off with a flathead?
