Re: 1600 16v Turbo Lanos - 1st Dyno run 03-09

Post by wolfhound »

I had the car finally Dyno tuned last night.

They really sorted it out well, idles much more smoothly and pulls strong, on boost from 2500rpm. Wisecos Pistons and Cometic head gasket are the way to go - Thanks Garrett.

Unfort my 320cc injuectors are maxing out (83%) at just under 5000rpm and at 4750 the fuel pressure is dropping off, which means the fuel pump aint up to the job. :(

We have set the limiter to 4750 till i get the new pump fitted next week and i stick in the bigger Ford injectors (400cc) that i showed previoulsy in this thread.

Have said that, the Woo made 157bhp @ the wheels at 4750. they say it should make another 20+ horses, a around 180 horses at the wheels.

I must admit i was driving like a hooligan on the way to work this morning.

More info next week.

Thats like huge brother.

Bear in mind the car is my daily driver, and not a race car, it aint ever gona see more than 0.7 bar boost and runs on 95 unleaded.

I've got the 400s, will try them and see how it goes - rev limit will be set @ 6000 - i want to preserve this engine.

Will put up the final figures next week.

Oh and it looks like the 307mm disks fit inside the 18" rims with the Brembos and i only needed to add 3mm spacer for clearance 8)

Sorry but the pic was taken with my cel phone so not great quality.

FYI you could easily fit those brakes under 17" wheels. I have 330mm brakes with larger calipers and am using 17" wheels

thats weak son. go for over 9,000cc injectors! jk :P
honestly, i dont get you go boost and basically speed the way to work ad talking about wasting too much gas?

i just realized the ratio is 8.8:1 meaning u use less air, which also mean compared to my 11:1, you use less gas?

(never even scratched the boost area yet)

Howzit man, yeh the biggest problem i had wasn't the diametre of the disks, but the size of the Brembos. it's one thick caliper (having pistons both sides) compared to the std sliding calipers with only one piston, so the front of the caliper actually hit the spokes of the rim.

I would have loved to get the Astra OPC 330mm disks but they were only availabe from the agent and at almost 4 times the price of the 307mm ones.

lol it always makes sense in my head. let me rephraze it.
"honestly, i dont get it, you go boost and basically speed to work. and then ur talking about useing too much gas? i dont get it.

then.. i realized with the turbo, you need to drop the compression to 8.8:1 (8.8 parts of air to 1 part fuel) thus, that u use less air, so then u use less gas, if you compare it to my 11:1 compression?

ive never even read into turbo yet, so i dont get much about gas consumption and such what nots.

Nought brother - not going on about gas consumption, saying that my injectors are not big enough, thus the motor is running to lean - When a turbo car runs lean it breaks pistons etc......
and i dont think i'll need the 550cc ones because the car isn't going to see much more than 0.7 bar boost. so i'm going up from the 300cc ones to 400cc.
FYI the std Lanos injectors are only something like 180cc.

TBH...................... Fark the gas consumption, its the joy of driving that counts. when the tank is empty, just fill it up.

Oh and becasue a turbo car pushes air into the combustion chamber, it actually uses MORE air than a naturally aspirated motor.

Gearbox seams OK ...........for now, but the bigger injectors are only going in next week so it's still limiting at 4750rpm - a real pain in the butt

Guess we will see how it holds up under the bigger power and highher revs, although i do have an F20 from a GSI Big Boss Opel Kadett sitting in the garage JUST IN CASE.

Also finally got the pipes made up for the Brembos so they went on this weekend - got awesome brakes now.

Here is a pic comparing the std 256mm (10.07") disks to the new 307mm (12.08") ones .

What brand are those 550cc injectors you talking about? How to know what is the cc? The stock original daewoo lanos or aveo is how many cc?

Dunno, i bought Ford 400CC ones, when i got them tested they flow 460cc, should be big enough.

Like i said above the std ones are 180cc.

Sean

Managed to crack the exhaust manfold last week, got it fixed now so it's time to upgrade in a big way and get it back on the dyno.

Hi brothers,

Who knows exactly how much maximum hp holds the stock crankshaft of the Nexia (CIelo, Lanos) engine??? In fact that stock made from iron, not forged steel. And Im very interested in that. Please any help.
