it up and running. i just ran into another minor problem. the wastegate tube welded to the manifold cracked from the tube being too thin. the manifold glows faint red after a light accelration to 6000 rpm off turbo. so over time this cracked the thin tube. its in the garage now. i am going to finish it up before i bring it out again. list of to do are, msd hook up in engine bay(already tested the system and it works), oil cooler adapter(i have the legansa radiator, i'll use the trany oil cooler port for now), adjustable fuel pressure regulator for the larger injectors(might need to lower pressure), might change the ait sensor to sense boost temp(first have to find eqivalent sensor with the same reading that has a treaded body.), and figure timming out with the emanage).
also, considering an lsd like the phantom grip if i can get it custom, or just weld the diff.

New goal: looking for high to mid 12's (then i MIGHT sell the car).

New project: i have an eclipse non turbo now. dont know what to do with it yet.

...I got to say, you're a genius! I never know this thread was here until you posted the for sale thread. I guess I need to pay more attention.

I only wish I was a member back when this was coming together.

I've gone over the thread a couple times looking for things that I plan to improve once i get the car... honestly it's all done, there isn't really anything to do.

I can't wait to get this car!

well for now I'll be posting here, hopefully I will have the ability to remain the thread soon to let you guys know when there are updates.

I want to start by saying thanks to Debo, haven't got the tittle yet but I did get the car. I'll be tearing into the car and I'll probably be pretty critical about the car. it doesn't mean the car is a POS or that I was jipped or anything like that but the car is in pretty rough shape. I still think it was a good buy but my only regret is that I gave exactly what he was asking and didn't even bother to make an offer. now looking at the car I'm sure he would have taken $1500 instead of the $2000. at any rate, as long as the short block is solid than it's still a decent buy.

...now down to business! :D

the car arived today...

not really sure how the bumper made it from Rhode Island to Colorado, it fell off while the car was coming off the trailer.

so it begins... DAY 1

Post by gse_turbo »

so here's the day one brake down...

started by debadging, the gold doesn't really do it for me
Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

then moved on to checking out the interior, does any one know what this is the first pic!?
Image Image Image Image

the guages where mounted with electrical tape, not a suprise though, I noticed it in the pics before I bought it
Image Image

the hand brake is maxed out, hopefully it just needs new rotors and pads... any other suggestion or experiences with this?
Image

now for under the hood :? there is oil everywhere but inside the engine! like I said before, I HOPE the bottom end is still stong.
Image Image Image Image Image Image

...now for the photo montogue...

Day 1 continued

Post by gse_turbo »

does anyone know what this is? there is a vacuum line running into it but nothing after.
Image

this why a filter in the fender well is a BAD IDEA!!! check out the rust
Image Image Image

and this is why rubber couplers of any kind are a BAD IDEA!!! especially ones from the Home Depot

well after day one the piles or stacking up!

here is the keep pile...
Image

here is the sell pile...
Image

and the king of the hill... the trash pile!
Image

I wrapped up the day by tearing into the wastegate and BOV, and it was a damn good thing!
...the BOV was not assembled properly so the diaphragm was pinched, add one more victim to the toss pile :x
Image Image Image Image

... the wastegate was hooked up to the intake at some point and the vacuum sucked the diaphragm to the fitting and cut it up, check out their repair :x $$!!

Looks like an electric mirror switch in that picture you asked about.

And the electrical tape is classy :P Was there no oil in the engine? :/
Is the motor still actually running or what happened that the oil sprayed up there?

there was no battery (furtunatly) so it wasn't turned over. there was no oil registering on the dipstick, I have yet to drain the oil and drop the sump.

a lot of the oil looks like it came out of where the breather filter is supposed to be a and perhaps the cranked hose from the crank case to the valve cover.

..I think the proper title for the thread at this point is "Nubira RE-rebuild"
