This is turning into a great thread. The head chosen in the posts are interesting. The Ecotec head isn't nearly as bad as its always been made out to be. It looks like the Ecotec head out flows the XE in the stock form.

From the list in the link Chris posted, there is only one XE head that out flowed the Ecotec head and the XE head was CNC ported.

Exist3nce stock U20SED = 193 /174
Exist3nce ported U20SED= 211/190
Saab B202 (old ) = 153 /160
Saab B202 (new) = 182 /165
C20XE sabre = 196 /166
Ecotec = 204 /152
Subaru EJ20 =151/111

Very interesting comparisons.... Too bad we don't know at what vacuum each head was flowed. So these are rough comparisons at best, as you said ideally they would all be flowed on the same bench.

I have one more to add just for interest....

2JZ-GE VVTi ported head (we didn't flow it stock, and he only flowed it at 0.2" and 0.344" which was the cam profile)

Intake

Lift--------CFM
0.200"-----182
0.344"-----222

Exhaust

0.200"-----158
0.344"-----184

That is intresting!

So I guess i should source an U20 head!

Since my XE head is fubar due to bad valve guides!
