Never even occurred to me to look at the control system... oh well good thing I am an Electronics Engineering Tech.

Guess I will just cut her open and create my own control system as I really don't feel like screwing around with buying a CAN controller and then attempting to figure out what the EPS wants to see for control frames.

Serves me right for not researching it better.... thanks anyways

that's ok, interestingly enough, the mk5 also came with the TRW gen2 like mine
I'm not sure if it was CAN controlled as well though

are you able to source stuff from the astra mk4 in mexico?
i'd imagine the shipping would be cheaper than the uk

We got the Astra H here as a "Saturn Astra", haven't tried to source MK4 part from Mexico.

Given I have a Calibra and two Astra MK2 I buy parts from the UK and at time Poland on a regular basis.

Originally my GSiTurbo MK2 had no power steering due to the front mount taking it's place on the heavily built T20SED.

The plan was to use the EHPAS to help in parking lot situations where I normally have to man handle the beast.

At present, I have pulled the T20SED ( Built for 600whp ) and I am in the process of dropping in a C20GET that I had in a damaged MK2 I bought about 5 years ago.

Now I will be able to go back to having a reliable fun car with power steering.

So I don't technically need the EHPAS right now, I could probably sell it to a Saturn Astra owner, but then again it would be an interesting project to set it up for speed sensitive pressure.

I haven't decided on what to do with the built T20SED, I almost bought a 72 Opel GT the other day, as that would be a fun RWD car to have 500-600hp

Given they convert the GT's into drag cars with big V8's it would be simple to drop the T20SED in there, I would just need to find /adapt a reliable RWD gearbox.

i don't actually think the astra H is speed/steering sensitive
i'm pretty sure it's the same as the G EHPAS, just CAN controlled

from my experience the G pas is actually really accurate with sensing what pressure to use, i've only noticed a couple of times where it hasn't sensed properly and has been a little heavier (it didn't feel dangerous though, just slightly heavier)

about the opel GT, that would be an interesting project, but I don't know about you, I'd rather be slotting a SAAB 2.0T or 2.3T
i would imagine it would be about the same amount of work
the wiring would be really easy, all you'd have to do is lift it from the donor and slot it in the GT with new guages and warning lights

Dear Benzino

i did it the same way exactly as you did, please let me know the average length of the power bosses you used! as in some situations when i turn the wheel i hear and feel a noise something like when you fill a ballon with air and leave it suddenly to pull out the air from it freely, hope i explained it in a correct way.

many said it may be a hose problem as they are short in my setup directly from pump to rack.

you can see my pics
the high pressure hose is about 40cm long

maybe your pump is bad?

I'm not sure why you would consider a Saab engine over the iron block ecotec, the aftermarket for the iron block is significantly larger than that of the Saab.

Besides, my engine ( rated for 600whp by a professional race engine builder ) is already built and sitting on a stand waiting to go into another project.

I probably have enough forged components and upgrade parts to build at least two more 300+hp iron block engines, I even have a brand new U20SED just sitting in my garage ( along with a C20LZ a T22SED and a C20GET )

I have restrained myself from buying the 72 Opel GT, I have too many projects already and so very little time to work on them.

yep, well there you go :D

i just assumed you meant stock 20SED...
also, i was under the belief that the saab 2.0t was pretty much a C20LET anyway

i reckon 300 horses would be more than enough for a street GT

how's the ralliart going?
