Do you believe it needs it?
What about incorporating a damper into a strut brace?

Interesting questions.

I think a torque damper in any engine is a good improvement. If you watch enough dyno videos you'll see how much movement and energy is lost to the motor and tranny twisting up.

I think it's 'less' required in the Lanos/Kadett chassis because the motor and tranny mount are so far forward on the chassis the effect of torque is a lot less. On the Nubira/Forenza... And any chassis that the motor or tranny mount in in line with the crank, it's a requirement.

The location of the torque damper is less important. The Nubira is on the lower left side of the motor near the gearbox. The Forenza/Reno, it's on the lower right of the motor near the oil pump. Most after market dampers mount to the strut tower and link somewhere to the top of the motor.

Except having it on the strut tower only makes sense for north/south engine

Actually I would suggest the same setup I mentioned for that as well. I've been working on an old school Audi Quatro with this setup. I'll try and post some pics as soon as I can.
