My girlfriend's new car...

Post by mr_sikma »

Hey,

My girlfriend just picked up her new car...

Its a 2000 Daewoo Lanos 'Sports' 3-Door Hatch!

Picked it up for $7200- ($AUS) and it only has 58,000kms on it. Its finished in the 'Poly silver' and is a 1.6ltr 5spd manual.

Got it from an old couple that had owned it from new and looked after it well. They had the complete service history and hadn't modified it at all.

Since we got it, the windows have been tinted, new allen head silver number plate bolts have been fitted, aswell as silver valve caps, new floor mats and black AXS slip on car seat covers. Its in the paint shop today getting a few minor scratches touched up.

Pics will be up soon...

Thanks

The interior in a 'Sports' model, has padded sports velour seat with colour coding, also leather gear knob and boot, leather steering wheel and airbag, and leather handbrake. Also has metallic dash, rev gauge etc

What do you think???

Looks good, and its also RHD :) That makes it cool. Hmm...if you sell it to me, I'll start with a 2.2 turbo motor swap ;)

nice man. whats weird is in the US the Sport edition had leather seats. i'd rather have the fabric though b/c leather gets too damn hot here.

Who needs the 2.2L..... they have the C20LET available...and it's a drop in!

In case you don't know.... the Lanos is based on a mid to early nineties Astra :D

Since the older Astra came with both a 2.0L and 1.6L it makes the swap a sure thing.

The old astra 2.0L is the cousin of the Daewoo 2.0L and C20LET found in the turbo Calibra.

The old astra 1.6L is the cousin of the Daewoo 1.6L

So... if you get an engine mount for a 1991 2.0L Astra you should be able to throw it on the C20LET and install it into your Daewoo lanos :D

Since the 1.6L is made in the Holden Port Melbourn plant you should have no problem finding parts to modify it.

Holden Calibra Turbo came with the C20LET in Australia. The problem though is even if your lucky enough to find one in a wreckers, then there is every chance that the gearbox is knackered (hence the reason its at the wreckers). To repair the 4x4 gearbox is a few thousand $AU too, and not that many were sold here so parts are going to be hard to find and expensive!
