cams, cam gears and valve train components

Post by gse_turbo »

there has been quite a but of interest in cam and valve train components recently. I've been thinking about doing a group buy on 1.8/2.0 and 2.2 parts for the 8v and 16v from all the year ranges, sorry no 1.6 stuff just yet.

the group buy would be for cams, cam gears and springs, may be valves as well. the line of parts I'm selling now are from Europe so if we get a pretty good sized order than the savings will be pretty large because of the combined shipping.

if the interest seems big enough and there is commitment than I'll post a complete list of the parts available. here are a couple items to give an idea...

• cam gears (2) for the Iron Ecotec or Redtop normally list for $340 would sell for $220 (with cam pick up)
• cam gear (1) for the 1.8/2.0 8v Ecotec normally $180 would be $120
• cam gear (1) for the 1.8/2.0 8v normally $180 for $120
• cams from blanks for the Ecotec normally list for $610 would be $475 (any profile/application)
• cams from blanks for the Redtop normally $680 would be $550 (any profile/application)
• cams from blanks for the 8v 1.8/2.0 normally $440 would be $335 (any profile/application)
• dual spring sets are still being priced for group buy

if there are other valve train components you are looking for from other makes and models feel free to ask, they will be included if available

so, let me know what you guys think, is there enough interest?

I'm very interested in these but I don't know which from the two I'm going with.

4602901 Sport
Duration [0.1mm+cl]: 259 / 259°
Duration [1.0mm+cl]: 218 / 218°
Maximum lift: 10.20 / 10.20mm
lift at TDC: 0.85 / 0.70mm
Parts Required: OEM
Application: N/A, All Motors

4602919 Sport
Duration [0.1mm+cl]: 267 / 267°
Duration [1.0mm+cl]: 228 / 228°
Maximum lift: 11.20 / 11.20mm
lift at TDC: 1.20 / 1.20mm
Parts Required: OEM
Application: N/A, All Motor

But is there a downside?? Which would be safer??

Please explain about this I'm really a dumb ass.

basically the first set with the lower lift would be safer, I'm still waiting to here back about the max lift the OE setup will allow. I may be able to test it out myself if needed.

these should both be good for stock valve and piston components the only downside is that with more lift the stock valve springs will fatigue quicker. a stronger single spring or dual spring would eliminate this.
