will a 1.6 or 1.8 fit in a optra?

Post by chevyoptraguy »

i have a chevy optra with a blown motor but closest things i could find in local junk yards is aveo's. out of the aveo's i found one has a 1.6 and the other has a 1.8, my question is wil either one of these motors work i my 2.0 optra and bolt up to the 5 speed manual transmission. i live in canada and i know the north american daewoos had different specifications if that helps any. answers to the question regarding if it will fit or not will be most appreciated

The Optra comes with the 1.8 in Central and South America with the same gearbox as you have. So the short answer is yes.

The long answer is, it's probably not with the conversion. You will likely need to pull the engine harness and ecu at the very least. There may be a hoast of small parts needed that you will only find out during the swap.

Can you not find a motor from a Suzuki Forenza on the US boarder?
