HOT WEATHER PROBLEM

Post by rowey83 »

Hi all,
i have a 1.6l daewoo Lanos 99 hatchback model, i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem below with their lanos. When it gets to about 33 degrees and above, if i have driven the car for about 40-45 mins or more and left it out in the heat for a little bit of time, out of no where on my travels back it will just cut out on me as i shift through the lower gears, usually in second gear it will just die and there is usually a faint high pitched squealing noise aswell, i can let it cool down for a while and usually i can get another 5-10 mins if i need to get home. But like the other day i really had to rev it to obscene levels and try to keep it at 60 the whole way even though it was a 50 zone otherwise it would of cut out again, the smell afterwards is quite hideous, a real petrol kind of smoky smell. The next day after having time to recover it is fine again. Does anyone know what this may be or has encountered this before?
cheers
Paul

what made you come to that conclusion?
not saying it's wrong, just interested. Usually something fries a computer, they don't usually just die on their own.

Hi benzino. Same opinion as you.

rowey83,
BTW
the smell afterwards is quite hideous, a real petrol kind of smoky smell
makes me think of an ignition problem and the ECU would be the last thing on my mind.
Have you read your ecu for fault code(s)?

he also thought before testing everything that it was an ignition problem.
