Aveo with Ecotec project - HELP!

Post by whiteraven »

My Aveo broke its timing belt and at least bent the valves... So at minimum it needs a rebuild, at max its toast.

Well, this is an opportunity to do one of two things, swap in an Ecotec, or junk the car. The swap will cost me, but how much? The other won't get me much money, and I'll have to buy a car VERY soon (30 mile commute to and from work daily).

So is there anyone in Phoenix, Arizona area who would be willing to help me? Got an Ecotec/Getrag powertrain for an '03+ to get rid of cheap? Able to do the swap itself for me? I have a very tight budget, but will try to do whatever I can to show my appreciation for the time and help.

I have engines and a few options, I don't mind doing the work on a tight budget but the car would have to make it to Colorado and it would probably have to be here a few weeks.

Well, you know anyway I could get the car up there without spending a fortune?

And I think my tight budget is a little too little from what I'm seeing... around $2000 total is all I can scrape up. :doubt:

A car dolly and a mid sized truck would get it up here.

I think 2000 may be enough of a budget depending on what you are wanting to include in the swap.

Well, I want a dependable, fuel-efficient commuter, so I can get to and from work each day with out spending a ton of money on gas.

Not much of a racer, I obey the speed limit and conserve my fuel.

And maybe upgrade to a better, larger displacement engine?? (One can hope.)

Is this goal unrealistic?

sorry, I haven't been able to spend a lot of time online.

actually no, it's not unreasonable at all. it actually makes the swap easier.

having an engine with more displacement means that it will take less effort to reach a certain RPM or speed.
