Daewoo lanos temp gauge rising with ac

Post by vincent49 »

Have a daewoo 1999 Lanos. Everytime we run the air conditioner the temp gauge gets very hot, to the point where we have to switch off and back off speed.
The radiator is full. Anyone any thoughts
Cheers

Poor coolant circulation?

-Calorstat (thermostat) partially closed?
-Radiator clogged?
-Water pump defective?

i would definitely say the thermostat. I ran mine with no thermostat, very hot weather and couldn'te even get the temp to rise past a quarter! If it works normally when the A/C is off, it is probably just enough flow to keep it cool, the extra work is making it overheat. just a guess though and an easy check.

Have you checked to make sure that both coolant fans are working properly ?

check cooling fans... both should kick in at low speed once the A/C is on
