Engine weights

Post by benzino »

Does anyone know how much the different engines weigh?
Like between the 1.5 and 2.0

I got my kerb weight done for registration and it was 100kg more than what the 1.5 is meant to be (1120 vs 1021kg)

I don't think the 2.0 is 100kg more though

I removed weight from removing the A/c system (not the stuff under the dash though) but also probably gained weight from using the leganza seats which feel much heavier than the lanos seats

so I'm making a guess that the 2.0 is about 80kg heavier and then the seats are about 10kg each more

but if there is rock solid info out there it would be great to know

did you consider the weight of the bigger rims you have?

did you consider the extra weight of the upgraded brakes components?

Well I reckon the 14" alloy wheels are the same or less than the 13" steel wheels

the brakes would've been 2-3kg max either side

so: +20kg seats
+ 6kg brakes

so engine= +74kg
does that sound reasonable?

i am not sure

all i know is that the 1.6 DOHC is some 20kgms heavier than the 1.5 SOHC... can the 2.0 DOHC be that heavy??... 80kgms difference is so much

did you try a different scale???... maybe the one you used was not that accurate or so

yeah it's accurate for legal purposes...
and the original weight is what's listed for the factory 1.5 kerb weight

then i am afraid all evidence are pointing to the 2.0 DOHC engine with regards to the extra weight

does the advertised curb weight include a full fuel tank? A full tank of fuel is probably close to 75lbs, blus your seats and other minor stuff adding up to 100#?

Kerb weight - is the total weight of a vehicle with standard equipment and all necessary operating consumables, including motor oil, coolant and fuel.
