you can get lower viscosity oil than that, and as someone was saying explaining oil grades on one of these boards the main difference with the lower viscosity oils is a narrower band between viscosity hot and viscosity cold, anyway.

I hope you have solved your problem but I think the theory is fanciful in both theory and practice. Sorry to say it, but id wager that you will be back.
your compression readings various did sound fkn weird, whatever was driving them.
