Re: Question about my Daewoo Lanos.....

If you put your foot down and nothing happens, it's probably too lean. Maybe check your fuel pressure. By the way, my Lanos also stalled sometimes when I release the throttle just after "flooring" it; but that just mysteriously disappeared. It started immediately afterwards and ran fine otherwise th...

Re: Starting problem

If you want to add more fuel as a check you can try the following. Unplug the 3mm vacuum pipe from the fuel pressure regulator (its on the fuel rail to the left when standing in front of the car, just before the fuel return pipe.) this will set the fuel pressure to max(about 4 bar instead of 3) and w...

Re: Head gasket

I see nobody's giving reply, so let me give it a shot. I THINK it would probably be fine as long as there is no dirt/water/oil on it when you refit. Although i wouldn't take the chance of re-doing it later on for that small amount of money.

Nice, glad you came right. Sounds like your car has variable length intake.

Re: Starting problem

Ok, nice. It's really hard to guess what the cause may be without being at the car. But if there's no smoke, i doubt that it caused by misfire (might still be though). A slight petrol smell just after startup is normal. Maybe check all the vacuum pipes also. An effective way for me is to remove the ...

Re: Starting problem

I don't think that oil would ruin your the cables. Every time I cleaned mine they worked fine afterwords. Mine filled up right to the top, probably due to some sump pressure under boost, coupled with a somewhat restricted exit at that rocker cover. Maybe it's just time for new ones anyway, but I wou...

Re: Crank bolt

It's a pleasure. Yes mine is also manual. I'm not sure if it is 4 bolts, might be more; 10mm I think. The starter motor runs on that ring gear that i've mentioned. The plate is about 20cm long and 15cm wide if i remember correctly. Just follow that big gear on the flywheel (on which the starter moto...

Re: Crank bolt

Never turn the engine against the cam!!!!!! Also no rattling gun!!!! Spray crank bolt with Q20 or some very thin oil. Go underneath the car. There is a cover under flywheel with, i think 4 small bolts or something. Not the gearbox sump! No oil should come out when you loosen the bolts. You'll see th...

Re: Starting problem

The fuel pump primes for a sec or two when ignition is switched on. That is normal. The gurgling sound could be from the fuel return into the tank that your hearing. I dont think your car would show check engine light if it's fuel ralated, because it does not measure fuel pressure nor afr. Not sure ...

How does PM work - Noob question

I've sent a PM, but it stays in my outbox. Does it only get sent when the user logs on?

Re: Holden Viva/ lacetti ticking sound coming below intake m

Check if it has the cable that opens the throttle. If it doesn't then it's drive-by-wire. Check if there's a round actuator type thing on your intake manifold. It should have a vacuum pipe and maybe a electrical wire connected to it. If it's there, its a variable length intake manifold. I would star...
