Re: Any Leganza enthusiast/ in Melb Australia want a repair

Yeah, great find! And for the benefit of others searching this forum, the part number you found for that metal pipe in the block behind the water pump that connects to a water coolant hose is: 90572544 Might not hurt to use a touch of some sort of sealing compound when pressing the new one in - just...

Re: Any Leganza enthusiast/ in Melb Australia want a repair

The engine is very similar to the DOHC motors used in the Holden Astra TR / Vectra JR models I believe.

Re: Any Leganza enthusiast/ in Melb Australia want a repair

Do you have the replacement part yet? Is it 'screw in' or pressed into the block? What I'm saying here assumes press in type: The extension pipe I mention would only work if you have direct access to the corroded alloy pipe from the waterpump side - hard to judge by your picture whether the hole is ...

Re: Any Leganza enthusiast/ in Melb Australia want a repair

With the waterpump out, can you tap that short alloy pipe out using a slightly smaller diameter extension pipe and hammer?

Re: Split Sleeve Bushings for Control Arms

Ok, I actually did the whole job today of removing and reinstalling the control arms on my 2000 manual Nubira. It's the first time they've been removed from this car and it's clear the split sleeves are supposed to partly sit in the crossmember to improve rigidity of the bushing sleeve once it's bol...

Re: Engine delays deceleration between gear change

Gee, I never would have picked the flywheel having any influence on it. I know the slow engine deceleration is done on purpose to aid matching rpms with the transmission to make gear changes smoother, but it feels like it's over compensated here. Oh well, with two people confirming I guess it's not ...

Re: Split Sleeve Bushings for Control Arms

I can confirm there are oil seals on the output of the transmission for the halfshafts. So changing the seals should be considered if you pop the shafts out of the transmission. Also, there are different halfshafts used on the right side for different transmissions. Shafts with manual transmissions ...

Re: Engine delays deceleration between gear change

Ah so this is normal?

My Ford Laser was designed with this 'feature' so I disconnected it's idle up solenoid to stop this annoying behavior.

I might change a few bits on the Nubira and if there's any improvement, will let you know.

Engine delays deceleration between gear change

Have a problem with my 2000 Nubira manual 2.0ltr. While driving, when I release the accelerator and press the clutch, the engine rpm holds for about 1 second before the revs starts to drop. I suppose this is likely to be a problem with the "idle air control valve" (sticky?). Or is it some sensor? An...

Re: Split Sleeve Bushings for Control Arms

I have a concern about the crossmember bolt that runs under the halfshaft. I'd had read that you have to cut that bolt off because the half shaft interfears with the bolt removeal? Is that the case? I don't want to have to screw around with the half shafts! Can this bolt be removed without screwing...

Heh, I sort of copy'n'pasted the procedure from the same pdf document you did :-)

Thanks for your help again Daniel, and have a great day!

Re: Split Sleeve Bushings for Control Arms

Never mind about the torque settings for the control arms, I found the procedure online. 1. Install the control arm. 2. Install the rear crossmember–to–body bolt. Do not tighten the bolt. 3. Install the front control arm bolt and nut into the crossmember. Bolt goes in from the top. 4. Tighten the co...

Re: Split Sleeve Bushings for Control Arms

You have to make/use some kind of hook to catch the top sleeve. Ah, a hook. Great idea! These control arms I'm removing have near new bushings. So the split sleeves are shiny new :-) Hopefully the sleeves won't be too tight in the bushings to pull with the hook. Will the lower split sleeve stop the...

Re: Split Sleeve Bushings for Control Arms

Hi all, I'm trying to remove the front control arms from a Nubira, but the control arms rear bushings wont come out of the cross-member because the split sleeve is somehow caught in the cross-member. How do you 'detach' the split sleeve in the rear bush from the cross-member? Can it be done without ...

Re: rebuild issues

Do you have a multi-meter?
Can you measure the cold and hot resistances of the temperature sensor?
