Re: Heat/Air/Vent Control problem?

Actually, I'm going to do a write up on this. After fixing the air control, and driving around this extended weekend i went over a bump and the air flow was reduced significantly. Took out the control panel again, and upon a close expection found the recirculation cable's plastic tab breaking where ...

Re: Timing Belt Went Out.

Just save yourself time and do a compression test on each cylinder. If no compression then you know its a mechanical problem, iow your valves got bent.

The head on these cars pulls off in about 2 hrs if you got air and tools.

Re: Heat/Air/Vent Control problem?

Its almost always the crappy hvac controller  The design is shitty and most of the force is performed there, that is why the tabs usually break or the cables come off. Funny thing we started getting the typical spring showers here in Miami, and I took the Woo out of hibernation to put some use...

Re: Timing Belt Went Out.

Sadly but truth be spoken. Head must be pulled and any damaged valves replaced. If you can pull the head off yourself your looking at maybe 80-120 to get the head rebuilt plus cost of new valves. If you wanna build it yourself and just send the head to get resurfaced your looking at around 30-50 buc...

Re: Will Lanos head fit Aveo

You sure? The Aveo always used a different engine management system than the Lanos, and in 2008 all vehicles were mandated canbus engine management. In 2008 the Aveo used things like a bcm and built in pcm immobilizer system. You probably could get it to work, but not plug in and go.

Re: oil pan gasket leakage, crank shaft seals, camsahft issue

Yeah when the gasket is new its flexible rubber, with age it cooks and becomes brittle causing it to break. The valve cover gasket usually lasts about 20 or 30k really. The grommets that go on the bolts are usually not included with a new gasket (not even oem). If you want to stop the leaks get the ...

yea thats what I had mentioned in my original post. The oil pressure switch is probably full of the same gunk. It costs like 14 bucks USD new IIRC...

Re: oil pan gasket leakage, crank shaft seals, camsahft issue

Another common leak area is the oil cap which will leak oil and run down the side of the valve cover. I remember having cars come in with a new valve cover gasket, but still leaking oil (which eventually burns on the side of the exhaust manifold and smells up the engine bay) and telling customers th...

btw the steel washer of the drain plug is also a common leak area. You can purchas them from daewoo direct. think they cost like a dollar and change USD.

Re: oil pan gasket leakage, crank shaft seals, camsahft issue

The cam gear bolt is a 17mm wrench or socket. A 1/2 ratchet and 17mm 1/2 socket would work great. The oil pan uses silicone not a gasket so repairing that leak would require removing the oil pan, and resealing it. This is actually a job performed in an hr or so (considering the lenghty part is clean...

Re: Will Lanos head fit Aveo

Exactly its the cost... I really don't have any off hand but i thought the composite would not mount up as the prots and egr feed are different.

For some reason though, here in Miami, Fl the aveo engine is plentiful, and I've been quoted as little as 120 for a Aveo head...

Re: Heat/Air/Vent Control problem?

If your car is a Lanos, then it only has two cables: temp control and flap control. Pretty hard to cross since the cables will actually tell you by routing where they go and run like an X across the rear of the HVAC controller. Also your having a problem with ROUTE control, not temp, so focus on the...

Re: Having horrible chugging and can't shift..

Well the chugging sounds to me like you have a power problem with the engine, the shifting is another problem not related. Could be the hydraulics and an easy way to check it is to put the car in gear (off) and then attempt to start the car in gear. Being very careful nothing is in under or around t...

Re: Will Lanos head fit Aveo

If you were to ask me I would say no. Not feasible IMO, but some people on here might beg to differ. None of the parts are interchangeable. You cannot swap the intakes from one head to another, EGR is different, and IIRC so is the front engine mount location and bolting. and the Aveo uses throttle b...
