Re: Another Lanos!

Indeed, I sold it. However, my first Lanos I had for over 6 years (and I wish I kept it). I've got some good memories and had a lot of fun owning it, but I'm not in a situation where I'm able to own another due to running costs - yearly running costs are more than double their second-hand value, whi...

Try Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/621-0045-Harmonic-Balancer-GM-Daewoo-Vehicles/dp/compatibility-chart/B004HOHW9W Or there's this US site: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_years/daewoo-nubira-harmonic-balancer-2000.html Couldn't find anything/anywhere that specifically distributes in Australia...

Re: AUDI TT COP upgrade

Good question. Can't remember what the gap is on recommended plugs, so start with that and use feeler gauges or something to go up in steps of 0.1mm until the plug won't fire anymore. e.g.: if the standard gap is 0.9mm, open it to 1.0mm, test it out, then 1.1mm, repeat. 1.2mm... 1.3mm... until there...

Re: AUDI TT COP upgrade

nothing more than firm grounding to cylinder head, they are very reliable and used in tuning up to 600HP, they eliminate carbon wires problems and decrease waste in spark power. more over they output voltage is higher than our GM coil Makes sense. Are you looking to do some high power tuning as wel...

Re: AUDI TT COP upgrade

This is a pretty hardcore swap from the usual coilpack setup - but, what's the purpose? Surely it'll just be more expensive when it goes wrong (I say 'when' because I've seen many of those VAG coils die for no reason) because each one of those coils is about the same price as a stock coilpack with i...

Ha! They'd have had a field day with mine then - no holes, just stuck on there. There should be no restriction on where the holes are as long as the screw caps match the background.

Re: Another Lanos!

After a very short stint of ownership I've sold the Lanos (surprised it sold and I didn't have pay someone to take it) as I couldn't really afford to run it. For now my daily driver is my wife's Astra H 1.6 (costs about half as much as a Lanos 1.3 to run), but with a possible job change on the horiz...

Re: Lacetti premiere steering wheel into lanos, possible? (D

Apart from that picture at the top, there's no step-by-step procedure for how this is done. Not on this site anyway. The buttons will only work if you connect it to something, but as the Lanos doesn't have a steering column that accommodates electronics (apart from the horn) it would require extensi...

Re: Replacing brake pipes

Those rust "neutralizers" can work in the short term to make it appear better, but to be honest that doesn't look much different from the brake lines on any other 10+ year old car you'll see. Might worth giving it a good clean and spraying it with something like WD-40 every now and then to keep the ...

Re: Replacing brake pipes

Try cleaning the brake pipes first - I had this before on my first Lanos, what appeared to be corrosion simply cleaned off with some good cleaning fluids and a soft steel brush or something similar.

Only if the pipes are genuinely corroded or wearing thin should you replace them really.

Re: Turns out Daewoos can run on diesel or kerosine, too

Such a shame really. I watched an old documentary about when Daewoo was first introduced here in the UK and they heavily targeted fleet buyers (i.e.: companies needing a dozen cars for business travellers) with very good feedback. At the time they were the only manufacturer offering any sort of warr...

Re: Daewoo/Opel drift car?

I recently came across a 1974 Opel Manta on Craigslist for cheap, and it really got me thinking. I mean, it weighs less than a Lanos, it's RWD, weight distribution is 53% front, and it has a HUGE engine bay (for a bigger engine or plumbing for a turbo). I know the stock engine is a 1.9 with Iron bl...
